2009 has been a year for the books! We have been very blessed and very challenged at the same time. Colt has been lucky and has managed to stay busy at work in this downward economy. I am still working at Verizon and enjoying my time there. We have gotten further along with remodeling our house, although not as far as we would have liked. A few new kitchen cabinets and a new countertop have really helped our kitchen look better. Another room we've been working on is our nursery. As I've said, we found out earlier this year we are going to have a baby and more recently we found out it's a boy! We can't wait to meet our son this coming April. Thanks to all our family and friends who've helped us celebrate our good news.

Oh Baby!
Colt and I recently found out we are pregnant. I am about 12 weeks along and am hoping that the morning sickness will soon disappear! Colt has been working very hard the past few weeks on getting our house in shape for our new family. Most of you know we have been remodeling slowly for over a year now and we are trying to ramp things up so we can relax when the little one gets here.
We had our first ultrasound a few weeks back and it was amazing to see our "little bean" as the doctor called it. The picture is a little blurry but sure enough, it's there.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
I tried my hand at making a Strawberry Rhubarb pie this weekend, and although it oozed out the top, it turned out delish! It wasn't pretty to look at but we're still enjoying eating it :o)
Our Great Helper
For the past few months I have felt a great deal of sadness for people in my life that have been struggling with the "mountains" in their lives, and when I read this last night, it made me feel a lot better. Hopefully it will make you feel better too.

While Searching for a book I wanted to buy recently, I heard a pleasant voice ask, "May I help you?" Once I described the book we soon found it. I left the store with my requested treasure happily tucked under my arm, and I thought, "I wonder how often God asks me this same question, but I'm too busy to hear?"
Maybe he's asking if there are any mountains in our lives that we need help in moving today - mountains of disappointment, heartache or fear. Sometimes these mountains can loom so large before us that we are no longer able to see Jesus. Yet it's here, while sitting in the shadow of our dark, cold mountain, that we can turn to Mark 11 and read what Jesus said. he gives us his pattern for prayer and sums up all we will ever need to know about it. The pattern is this: pray, ask, believe, forgive.
To pray is a supernatural way of getting to know the supernatural God. When we pray, God makes us his partners! He chooses us to be come part of his ministry here on earth.
When Jesus inquires, "May I help you?" he wants us to respond in childlike trust. He wants us us to ask. Sometimes he answers in a miraculous way, but most of the time he simply opens our spiritual eyes and shows us what we can do to bring about the answer. Then he gives us the ability to do it.
To believe is to give God the right to answer our prayer in the way he sees best. Remember, Jesus never gave a sermon on unanswered prayer because, from his viewpoint, all prayers are answered. When we learn to believe God, we find our attention is no long on our mountain. It becomes focused instead on Jesus, who alone is worthy of our trust.
When we forge, we open a channel go God. Jesus asks us to forgive others "so that your Father in heaven may forgive your sins" (Mark 11:25)
God longs for us to live in the joy of walking by faith - praying, asking, believing, forgiving. When we do, we find we're no long sitting alone in the shadow of the mountain.

I know some of you are going to roll your eyes at me, but as a HUGE fan of 90210 growing up, I had to read Tori's first book, sTori Telling, and it actually was good! Like I said, HUGE fan...

Montana - Phase 2
Wednesday night Lara, Kelsey, Renee and I got home from our road trip to Montana! Our trip started at about 6 in the morning on Sunday and we drove the 9ish hour trip through Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana and ended up in Missoula around 5:00pm. Even though it took ALL day, it wasn’t that bad at all. With a few coloring books, crossword puzzles, and lots of music, the trip went by very quick.
Monday we helped Alisa pack up her apartment for her move back to Oregon. Then, later that night, we decided to walk down to the bowling ally a block or so from her apartment. Let me just say… I killed everybody! Lara was my only competition :o)
Tuesday was Kelsey’s birthday, so we went to Big Sky brewery, then out to a very nice dinner, then out for a few more drinks. I think she had a good birthday.
The drive home Wednesday was a little more stressful because Tuesday night it started snowing and by Wednesday the pass heading into Idaho was pretty bad. But after we got into Coeur d’Alene it was a much easier drive. I had a great time. Now, hopefully my next vacation will be to somewhere warm!!

Montana - Phase 1
In February, Lara and I went to visit Alisa in Missoula, MT. We had such a good time that we are going back in a few weeks. Even though it was in the high 20's to low 30's there, it was so beautiful. Missoula is surrounded by mountains on all sides, and the sky just lasts forever.

Saturday, Alisa took us to the University of Montana. The campus was so pretty, it reminded me of OSU.
